Let Us Pray for the Whole World
“Let us pray for the whole world, that there may be a great spirit of fraternity.”
In 2013, Pope Francis made history by calling more than 1 million young people to observe several minutes of prayerful silence at World Youth Day. Showing care for all those who suffer, he asked the crowds to remember those who could not join them due to tragic events.
He said, “Before I continue, I would like to call to mind the tragic accident in French Guiana… I invite all of you to observe a moment of silence and prayer for Sophie, the wounded, and their families.”
April 2018: Consoling a Young Boy
In April 2018, Pope Francis had a moving encounter with a young boy who had lost his father, who did not believe in God. The pope assured the boy that God does not abandon anyone, regardless of their beliefs.

He comforted the boy and said, “God surely was proud of your father… Surely God likes this so much.”
