On a solemn Saturday evening, at the striking hour of 9pm in Rome, Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas presided over a poignant recitation of the Rosary in memory of Pope Francis.
The Cardinal, serving as the Coadjutor Archpriest of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where the beloved Pope has now found his eternal resting place, opened the prayer with these touching words:
“Today marked the completion of our beloved Pope Francis’ earthly journey as he arrived in the Basilica. He traversed the streets of Rome, where countless faithful paid their final respects and poured out their love. In our hearts, we cherish the memory of his impactful ministry within and for the Church. He loved and served the Church until his very last breath. Today, he rests in this Marian sanctuary, a place close to his heart, under the watchful eyes of his Mother, revered here as Salus Populi Romani. Our prayer is that the radiant light of the Risen Son may grant him the promised reward of faithful servants. Help of Christians, pray for us.”
