Remembering Francis: A Legacy of Love and Faith
Today, April 26, marks a solemn occasion as we gather in St. Peter’s Basilica to celebrate the Mass of suffrage for the soul of Francis. As we pay our respects and honor his memory, we are reminded that he may have left this earthly realm, but his love and spirit remain with us.
Francis was more than just a friend, a brother, or a pastor. He was a beacon of light, a source of comfort, and a faithful servant of God. His presence touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and souls.
His faith was unwavering, his kindness unassuming, and his gaze always filled with compassion. In the midst of chaos and confusion, Francis was a steady guide, a reminder of the importance of living simply, loving deeply, and walking with hope.
As we lay his body to rest in the Basilica of St. Mary Major, we are reminded of his deep devotion to the Mother of God. It is fitting that he finds his final resting place under Mary’s protection, a symbol of his unwavering trust in her intercession.
We do not bid farewell to Francis; instead, we say thank you. Thank you for embodying Christ’s love, for showing us the way to heaven while remaining grounded on earth. Thank you for allowing Grace to shape you, and for continuing to watch over us from above.
Today, as we come together in prayer, we hold Francis in our hearts. May eternal light shine upon him, may he find eternal rest in the arms of the Lord, and may we never forget the lessons we learned from his life.
