Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa Leads Rosary in Memory of Pope Francis
At Rome’s Basilica of Saint Mary Major, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa took the lead in the fifth recitation of the Rosary in memory of Pope Francis on Friday, April 25th.
Before initiating the Rosary, Cardinal Pizzaballa spoke about the importance of trusting in the Lord and His word. Reflecting on the Gospel of the day, he highlighted how the disciples, after the Resurrection, tried to go back to their normal lives to avoid facing the pain of recent events.
Cardinal Pizzaballa acknowledged the struggle of placing trust in God, especially in times of sorrow like the passing of Pope Francis. He called upon the Blessed Virgin Mary, Salus Populi Romani, to help turn this moment of grief into a new dawn of hope.
The evening concluded with a prayer for intercession from Mary, known as the ‘Consoler of the Afflicted’.
