Join us as we prepare for the upcoming funeral of Pope Francis scheduled for next Saturday. Anas, a company within the FS Italiane group, has put together an extraordinary national traffic plan in anticipation of the arrival of heads of state, government officials, and international institutions at the airports in Rome. The plan also takes into consideration the influx of faithful from all regions of Italy into the capital.
Special attention has been given to strengthening the presence of Anas personnel on major roads connecting to Rome where high traffic is expected: the A90 “Grande Raccordo Anulare” motorway, the A91 “Roma-Fiumicino” motorway, and the SS7 “Appia” road. Anas monitoring has also been intensified on consular roads, including the SS1 “Aurelia”, SS2 “Cassia”, SS3 “Flaminia”, and SS4 “Salaria”.
The traffic plan includes targeted prevention and control of vehicle flows from all regions of Italy. With 2,300 Anas resources on the ground and in operational rooms, already planned for the Easter exodus and spring holidays – with the temporary removal of about 80% of construction sites on the national network – with increased presence and shifts. Anas’ commitment is deployed in collaboration with the national Civil Protection, which coordinates all activities, and with Viabilità Italia.
