From the loggia of St Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis addressed the crowds gathered in St Peter’s Square, filled with tulips. Despite his ongoing recovery from bilateral pneumonia, the Pope’s words rang out, proclaiming: “Christ is risen.”
“Christ, my hope, has risen,” Pope Francis declared, urging the faithful to focus on the empty tomb and the transformative power of the resurrection. He emphasized that the resurrection is not merely a concept but a living force that heals and empowers.
“Today too,” he continued, “he takes upon himself all the evil that oppresses us and transfigures it.”
Peace in the Holy Land and around the World
The Pope’s message extended to regions marred by conflict, such as the Holy Land. He lamented the ongoing violence and called for an end to hostility. Pope Francis expressed his belief in the triumph of love over hatred, light over darkness, and forgiveness over revenge.
Despite acknowledging the persistence of evil in the world, the Pope emphasized that it no longer holds power over those who embrace grace. His words were not only a testament to his faith but also a plea for global unity and compassion.
The Easter message of Pope Francis serves as a reminder of the importance of peace, forgiveness, and love in a world plagued by strife. Through his words, the Pope continues to inspire hope and encourage humanity to strive for a better, more peaceful world.
