President Meloni: Thank you very much, Mr. President, for your warm welcome. I am grateful for this opportunity to strengthen our longstanding friendship and relations. Today, on April 17, we commemorate the agreement that allowed Cristoforo Colombo to embark on his historic journey. This serves as a reminder of the deep roots of our connection and the shared fight against woke ideology that seeks to erase our history. We also stand united in addressing issues such as illegal migration and combating synthetic drugs, like fentanyl, which Italy has taken a strong stance against.
During our discussions, we have explored various avenues for collaboration in defense, economy, space, and energy. Italy is set to increase its LNG imports and invest in nuclear energy development. The interconnection between our economies is evident through the significant investments and trade relations that exist between our countries.
As I envision a stronger Western civilization, I believe that by working together, we can achieve this goal. Despite any differences, it is imperative that we come together to find solutions. I am pleased to extend an invitation to President Trump to visit Rome in the near future and possibly meet with European leaders to further our shared objectives in making the West great again.
President Trump: We can.
President Meloni: And we will continue to work towards that goal. I am proud to lead Italy, a stable and prosperous country, with significant job growth and decreasing inflation rates. Our efforts to reduce migration flows have been successful, but I believe that together, we can achieve even greater results.
President Trump: That’s great.
President Meloni: As we stand united in supporting Ukraine’s freedom, we can work towards a just and lasting peace in the region. We appreciate your efforts in this regard, Donald.
President Trump: Good.
President Meloni: Thank you.
