
Exciting Updates on Pope Francis’ Recovery and Holy Week Plans
Great news from the Holy See Press Office! Pope Francis’ recovery is progressing well, and he has even written the meditations for the Good Friday Via Crucis at Rome’s iconic Colosseum.

After being discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he was treated for a polymicrobial infection and bilateral pneumonia, the Holy Father continues to show improvements at his residence in the Casa Santa Marta.
According to the latest updates, Pope Francis has shown slight improvements in his respiratory, mobility, and voice functions. He is undergoing physical therapy and treatment, and is gradually reducing his need for oxygen administration.
In addition to his recovery, the Pope has been actively engaging in work activities and receiving visits from collaborators in the Roman Curia. Cardinal Marcello Semeraro recently visited to discuss the promulgations for the decrees of causes of saints.
Exciting Plans for Holy Week
While it’s still early to confirm Pope Francis’ participation in Holy Week liturgies, the Press Office has revealed some exciting plans. The Pope himself has written the meditations for the Via Crucis on Good Friday at the Colosseum, which will be published on Friday.
Several Cardinals have been delegated to preside over Holy Week liturgies, including Cardinal Domenico Calcagno for the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday morning and Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti for the Passion Liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica on Good Friday.
Cardinal Baldo Reina will preside over the Via Crucis at the Colosseum on Good Friday evening. The Press Office will continue to provide updates on the Pope’s potential participation in the upcoming liturgies.
