Welcome to Exaudi Blog! Today, Bishop Enrique Díaz Díaz shares with us his insightful reflection on the Gospel for this Sunday, April 13, 2025, titled: “On a Donkey.”
***
As we delve into the Scriptures for this Sunday, we are reminded of the humility and simplicity of Jesus as portrayed in his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The readings from Isaiah, Psalms, Philippians, and the Passion of Our Lord Jesus according to Saint Luke, all point towards the paradoxical nature of Jesus as a king who defies societal norms and expectations.
In a world where power and wealth often dictate one’s worth, Jesus presents a different narrative. He chooses to ride on a borrowed donkey, surrounded by ordinary cloaks and branches, symbolizing his rejection of materialistic values. Instead, Jesus offers a vision of true happiness rooted in simplicity and harmony of the heart.
As we commemorate Palm Sunday, we are called to reflect on how we can follow Jesus’s example in our modern world. His message challenges us to prioritize compassion, humility, and love over the pursuit of power and riches.
Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of respecting the dignity and rights of every individual. In a society that often prioritizes profit over people, Palm Sunday calls us to uphold the value of each person as a child of God.
Despite attempts to silence his message, Jesus continues to speak truth to power. He stands as a beacon of hope and justice, calling us to confront injustice and uphold the dignity of all. Let us open our hearts to listen to his words and follow his teachings with courage and compassion.
This Holy Week, let us walk alongside Jesus in his journey of love, sacrifice, and resurrection. May we embody his message of mercy and redemption as we reflect on his ultimate sacrifice for humanity. Let us live this week with a renewed commitment to think, feel, love, and live like Jesus.
Let us pray: God, full of love and goodness, grant us the strength to live according to the teachings of Jesus’s passion, so that we may share in his glorious resurrection. Amen.
