As the countdown continues for the May 1st Concert, which returns this year to the historic location of Piazza San Giovanni, the 12 finalists of the 1M1NEXT contest for new artists, organized by iCompany, have been announced. The three winners will take the stage at the grand event.
Who are the 12 finalists
Here are the artists who will compete in the final: Arianna Rozzo (from Bergamo), Cil (Petritoli, province of Fermo), Cordio (Catania), Dinìche (Aversa), Ëgo (Genoa / Milan), Fellow (Asti), Lollo Noir (Rome), Questo e quello (Genoa), Sils (Terracina), Tära (Cassino), Venice (Rome), and Ventidue (Rome).
During the registration phase, which was completely free, artists of all ages with works of any musical genre (but not covers) were admitted. 150 artists selected by the artistic direction of the May 1st Concert made it to the second phase.
How were they selected
The evaluation of each artist was determined by combining, in a weighted quota, the votes from the web with those of the quality jury composed of Massimo Bonelli (artistic director of the May 1st Concert and president of the jury), Giulia Nannini (Rai Radio2), Lucia Stacchiotti (iCompany), Maria Venturini (artistic producer and author), Simona Orlando (Rockol), and Julian Borghesan (Rai Radio2).
The web popular jury accounted for 25% of the final evaluation, while the quality jury accounted for 75%. To ensure the proper conduct of the selections, the online voting control system invalidated all suspicious votes, including those obtained through VPNs and/or IP generators. The assigned votes are public and can be viewed on the website 1mnext.primomaggio.net.
Final behind closed doors
The 12 artists will now advance to the live final behind closed doors, scheduled for April 22nd, where they will be judged by the quality jury. The three winners who will perform at the Concertone will be announced on Rai Radio2 on April 23, 24, and 25, during the episodes of “Sogni di gloria” with Giulia Nannini and Julian Borghesan.
The overall winner of the contest will be announced during the event. Last year, the winner was Giglio, a singer-songwriter from Turin, with the song “Santa Rosalia.”
