Welcome to the Teatro Tor Bella Monaca, where from April 15th to 19th, 2025, one of the most anticipated comedies of the season will be staged: “I Due Cialtroni” (The Two Scoundrels), the new, hilarious play written and directed by Maestro Pier Francesco Pingitore, a true master of Italian theater.
Maurizio Martufello and Marco Simeoli play two actors as famous as they are incompatible: Massimo, a serious and committed playwright, and Mattia, a very popular comedian but judged as a “buffoon” by the former. The two find themselves, by a strange twist of fate, trapped in a mountain chalet, surrounded by snow, for a vacation that quickly turns into a hilariously forced imprisonment. Neither of them knows that the other will be there, and there is no love lost between them: Massimo despises Mattia’s easy humor, while Mattia considers Massimo a pompous bore.
With snide remarks, venomous jokes, and old political grudges resurfacing, living together becomes a true battleground. The two eagerly await a phone call from Rome that could change the course of their careers, but when an avalanche completely isolates the chalet, anxiety turns into claustrophobia, and the conflict becomes irresistibly comical.
Counteracting and playing the peacemaker, a strong female trio takes the stage: Laura Garofoli, Elena Ferrantini, and Lucrezia Gallo, in the roles of the Hostess, Massimo’s girlfriend, and the cook Deborah, who with their arrival bring a breath of truth, irony, and… salvation.
A brilliant, sharp, and profoundly human comedy that makes you laugh while portraying the neuroses, ambitions, and small dramas of two men forced – literally – to face themselves.
Set and costumes by Graziella Pera, with the collaboration of Set Designer Giovanni Nardi, for a carefully crafted and evocative production that complements the storytelling.
