As part of the Social Week activities on the beautiful island of São Nicolau, important figures from national and local politics, as well as civil society, gathered to promote the dignity of the human person and showcase the social face of the Church.
Radio Nova de Maria – Cape Verde
The opening ceremony was a grand affair, filled with various social activities, and was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves.
During an interview with Radio Nova de Maria, parish priest Father Hernany Dias shared the event’s noble purpose.
Alongside José Maria Neves, the event saw the participation of the Mayor of Ribeira Brava, Nilton Monteiro, numerous humanitarian associations, church groups, and parishioners.
In the city of Ribeira Brava, José Maria Neves led the Forum on “The First Social Action Pact”. The event also featured a conference on “Waste and Sustainability – Circular Economy, Green Growth and Interaction of Policies and Agendas (SDG 2030, COP 21), EU Ecological Pact and Farm to Fork Strategy” by Antóno Gualberto do Rosário, a prominent businessman, economist, and former Prime Minister of Cape Verde.
