Welcome to a surprise outing with Pope Francis! The Holy Father recently made a unexpected appearance outside Casa Santa Marta, where he is recovering. Despite his convalescence, Pope Francis has started to resume some meetings and activities.
Just a week after being seen in a wheelchair in St. Peter’s Square during the Jubilee of the Sick, Pope Francis ventured out once again on Thursday, April 10. This time, he spent some time in the beautiful surroundings of St. Peter’s Basilica.
His visit was met with excitement as word quickly spread about his presence. The faithful gathered eagerly to greet him, including restorers working on projects within the Basilica and pilgrims visiting for the Jubilee.
During his visit, Pope Francis paused to pray at the tomb of St. Pius X, a pope whom he deeply admires. Despite not speaking, his gestures of affection and closeness towards the crowd were evident. Many lined up for a chance to be near the Bishop of Rome, whose public appearances have been limited during his recovery.
It was a special moment filled with blessings and silent gestures of love from Pope Francis. His presence brought joy and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to be there that day at St. Peter’s Basilica.
