Welcome to the latest update on Pope Francis’ health as he recuperates at his residence in Casa Santa Marta.
By Christopher Wells
The Holy See Press Office has confirmed that Pope Francis remains in good spirits and his overall condition is stable. His blood work is normal, and recent tests show improvement in his lungs. The Pope is diligently following the therapies prescribed by his doctors, with positive progress in his motor skills, breathing, and voice. Nightly high-flow oxygenation is used as needed.
Despite his recovery, Pope Francis is still working at his desk and celebrating Mass each morning in the chapel of Casa Santa Marta. He continues to meet with health personnel and close collaborators, maintaining his daily routine.
Due to his health, there will be no General Audience this week. However, the Vatican will release the text of the catechesis prepared for the Audience, and the Pope will deliver a homily for Sunday’s Mass for the Jubilee of the Sick and Health Care Workers. Plans for the Angelus on Sunday will be discussed in the next briefing on Friday, 4 April.
It is still uncertain whether Pope Francis will participate in the upcoming ceremonies of Holy Week, as his health remains the top priority for the Vatican.
