Welcome to Exaudi’s latest blog post, where Fr. Jorge Miró shares his insightful commentary on the Gospel for this Sunday, March 30, 2025. The title of his reflection is “This Brother of Yours Was Dead and Has Come Back to Life.”
Today, we celebrate the Sunday of Joy, also known as Laetare Sunday. This day is filled with happiness as we are reminded to rejoice in the Lord. The entrance antiphon sets the tone for the day: “Rejoice in Jerusalem, be glad about her, all you who love her; rejoice in her joy, all you who mourn for her; you will nurse at her breasts and be filled with her consolations” (Isaiah 66:10).
The source of our joy lies in the fact that God’s love is freely given to us. Through Christ, God has reconciled the world to Himself, offering us salvation out of His infinite love. This message of reconciliation is a testament to God’s faithfulness and His unwavering promise to love us always.
In the well-known parable of the Prodigal Son, we see a beautiful illustration of God’s unconditional love for us. Just like the prodigal son, we may stray from God’s embrace and follow our own desires, but God’s love never wavers. He is always ready to welcome us back into His loving arms.
When we turn away from God and live in sin, we experience a sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction. However, the Holy Spirit continues to echo God’s love in our hearts, calling us to return to the Father. This act of repentance and conversion allows us to experience the Father’s forgiveness, symbolized by the ring and sandals that represent communion and freedom.
Accepting God’s forgiveness transforms our hearts, leading us to show mercy and compassion towards others. We are called to live in truth and charity, to welcome and bless others, just as the Father welcomes us back with open arms.
As we reflect on the parable of the Prodigal Son, let us remember that no matter how far we may have strayed, God is always waiting for us with love and forgiveness. Allow yourself to be embraced by His love and experience the radiance of His presence.
Come, Holy Spirit, and guide us on the path of conversion and reconciliation with God.
