Experience the Magic of Holy Week and Easter in Rome
Celebrate the solemn and sacred liturgies of Holy Week and Easter in the heart of Rome, beginning with Palm Sunday on 13 April. The Vatican has announced its programme of events, although the presence of Pope Francis remains uncertain.
As the 88-year-old pontiff continues to recover from double pneumonia, it is unclear whether he will participate in the ceremonies. However, the Vatican press office has indicated that his potential involvement will depend on his health in the upcoming weeks.
Traditionally, Pope Francis has visited jails on Holy Thursday to perform the foot-washing ritual, demonstrating humility and service to those in need. While his presence at this year’s events is uncertain, there is a possibility that he may deliver the Easter Sunday Urbi et Orbi blessing.
