Brigitte Bardot, the French actress known for her independence, nonconformity, and femininity, has expressed being “devastated” by the death of Alain Delon, a friend who was “on the same wavelength.” In an interview with BFM TV, she reveals that she now feels like she has “no one left.” At 90 years old, she continues tirelessly with her fight for animal rights and the abolition of hunting.
“I am very fortunate because I have a fiery temperament, difficult to bring down!” says the actress, not hesitating to use humor and laughter in the interview. A symbol of beauty in the cinema of the Sixties, Bardot stopped making films in 1973. Her life is almost entirely dedicated to animals: “From 1 to 6 pm – she says – I work for my foundation, I read mail, I do important things for animals. And I do this every day.”
She has been living in her famous house in Saint-Tropez, “La Madrague,” since 1958, starting her day’s activities in the afternoon after having “enjoyed the morning,” surrounded by music and books. At 90 years old, she has stopped driving, especially since her beloved dog E.T. passed away last year: “I always drove with him by my side, I stopped because I was alone in the car…”.
She rarely sees anyone, “I have crossed out a large part of the human population, which has disgusted me a lot,” she emphasizes. The loss of her friend Delon, with whom she worked on several films, was a hard blow: “One is never uplifted when a friend dies – says B.B. – I am very, very sad. I miss him enormously. We were on the same wavelength. I always think of him. And I have no one left. They have all gone.”
