Rome’s Stunning Transformation: The First of Five Riverfront Parks Unveiled Along the Tiber
Rome is embracing a new era of revitalization with the grand opening of the “Lungotevere delle Navi” riverfront park, marking the first of five new parks along the scenic Tiber River. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri led the inauguration, heralding a wave of transformation set to sweep through the city.
This 1.6-hectare oasis, made possible by an €800,000 investment from Jubilee funds, stands as a testament to Rome’s commitment to reclaiming its riverbanks and reconnecting with its natural beauty.
Designed with a keen eye for accessibility, sustainability, and harmonious integration with the landscape, the park boasts educational spaces aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among visitors.

A highlight of the park is the impressive 570-meter-long wooden walkway, meandering through scenic vistas and open spaces. The park’s sustainable wooden structures play a crucial role in restoring ecological balance and fostering biodiversity in an area long neglected.
But the unveiling of the “Lungotevere delle Navi” Riverfront Park is just the beginning. The city has plans to unveil four more riverfront parks, with the next one scheduled to open on April 5 in Ostia Antica.
This ambitious initiative aims to bring the Tiber River back into the hearts of the people, creating vibrant public spaces and setting a new standard for sustainable urban development in Rome.
