The Pontiff greeted the throng of faithful gathered outside the hospital entrance, expressing his gratitude with a simple “thank you to everyone!” With visible effort but a warm smile, he blessed the crowd and acknowledged their cheers and chants of support.
In a touching moment, Pope Francis noticed a woman named Carmela Mancuso holding a bouquet of yellow flowers in the front row. He waved and addressed her directly, showing his personal connection with his devoted followers.
After his brief balcony appearance, the Pope departed in his signature white Fiat 500L, with the crowd trailing behind him in a show of affection and admiration. His next stop was the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where he presented flowers to Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas as a token of appreciation for the care he received.
Before his balcony appearance, Pope Francis also took the time to greet the staff and leaders of the Catholic University and the Policlinico Gemelli, showing his gratitude and support for their work.
