Welcome to Exaudi’s blog, where we delve into the insightful reflections of Bishop Enrique Díaz Díaz on the Gospel for this upcoming Sunday, March 23, 2025, titled: “The Lord is compassionate and merciful.”
***
As we explore the readings for this Sunday, we encounter powerful messages that challenge our perceptions of God. The Exodus passage reminds us that God is the one who sends us, while the Psalms affirm that the Lord is indeed compassionate and merciful. These scriptures guide us to reflect on the true nature of God and the distorted images we may hold of Him.
In today’s society, many choose to live without acknowledging God, believing that religion only leads to division. However, distancing ourselves from God or from the false perceptions we have created of Him is a crucial journey we must embark on. The distorted image of God can often be a heavy burden, leading to fear, repression, and injustice. It is essential to discern the true image of God that Jesus reveals to us, one of mercy, love, and peace.
Jesus challenges the traditional view of God as a harsh punisher, inviting us to embrace a God of unconditional love and forgiveness. The disciples’ misconceptions about God mirror our own tendencies to judge others and ourselves based on false perceptions. It is through experiencing God’s boundless love that true conversion can occur, transforming our hearts and actions.
God’s solidarity with humanity is rooted in His love and compassion, urging us to address social injustices and work towards a world of freedom and equality. As we navigate through the season of Lent, we are called to believe in God’s immense love and seek true conversion driven by love rather than fear.
Let us pray for a genuine conversion and a change of heart this Lent, embracing the love and mercy of our Father God. May we bear the fruits of justice, love, and peace, following the example set by Jesus. Amen.
