Welcome to the latest update on Pope Francis’ health from the Holy See Press Office!
Good news on the Pope’s health front – there have been reported slight improvements in both his respiratory and motor functions. The Holy Father is currently receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he has been since February 14th due to a respiratory infection and bilateral pneumonia.
Recent updates indicate that Pope Francis is using high-flow oxygen therapy less frequently, and the swelling in his hand, which was visible in a recent photo, has already shown signs of improvement. Fortunately, he did not require mechanical ventilation last night, marking a positive step forward in his recovery.
The Holy See Press Office has noted that the Pope’s condition remains stable within a complex clinical framework, with ongoing improvements in his health. The use of non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night and high-flow oxygen therapy during the day is gradually decreasing, reflecting positive progress.
Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis spent his day receiving treatments, engaging in prayer, and doing light work. He is following a medically prescribed diet, which now includes solid food, indicating a positive step towards his recovery.
We eagerly await the next medical update scheduled for tomorrow evening, as we continue to keep Pope Francis in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery.
