Exciting news from the United Kingdom! King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to make a grand state visit to the Holy See next month, with a scheduled audience with none other than Pope Francis on April 8.
The royal couple will be in Italy from April 7–10, with the visit kicking off with a focus on the Vatican and participation in the Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year, as revealed in a program released by Buckingham Palace just this Tuesday.
While the Vatican has not yet confirmed the meeting between King Charles and Pope Francis, who is currently recuperating from double pneumonia at Gemelli Hospital, the anticipation is high. The pontiff’s discharge date remains uncertain, with his hospital stay now exceeding one month.
Aside from their much-anticipated meeting with Pope Francis, the royal duo will also participate in an ecumenical service on the vital theme of “Care for Creation” at the illustrious Sistine Chapel, as announced by Buckingham Palace on March 18.
