Welcome to the Union of Beninese Clergy Blog
Greetings and welcome to the official blog of the Union of Beninese Clergy (UCB)! We are a national association of Catholic priests in Benin, dedicated to promoting priestly fraternity and self-sustainability within the Church of Benin.
Vatican News with Juste Hlannon – Cotonou
This week, we had a special handover ceremony in Cotonou at the Catholic Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of Benin. The outgoing national delegate of UCB passed on the mantle of leadership to the newly elected delegate, in the presence of the Deputy Secretary-General of the Episcopal Conference of Benin.
Fostering Fraternity and Reflection
Established 56 years ago, the UCB consists of approximately 1,200 priests serving in Benin’s dioceses. Our main mission is to foster priestly fraternity and provide a platform for reflection on the challenges of our mission. We meet annually to discuss important themes related to the Church in the country.
Recently, we elected Father Hubert Kèdowidé as our new national delegate, who emphasized the importance of unity and reflection among priests. Our association plays a crucial role in bringing priests together and supporting them in their mission.
Working Towards a Self-Sustaining Church
During the handover ceremony, Father Éric Okpeitcha commended the outgoing delegate for his dedication over the past eight years. The Bishops of Benin expect us to work towards building a united, missionary Church that is self-sustaining. This is a goal we are committed to achieving.
As the new national delegate, Father Hubert Kèdowidé is focused on supporting priests in their calling and improving their well-being. Our aim is to strengthen fraternity within the association and provide assistance to priests in need.
Supporting Priests in Their Calling
We are dedicated to supporting priests in their mission and strengthening our community. Our goal is to build a resilient and self-sustaining Church in Benin, working collaboratively with the Bishops to achieve this vision.
Thank you for joining us on this journey of faith and service. Stay tuned for more updates and stories from the Union of Beninese Clergy!
