Welcome to the weekly reflection shared by Bishop Enrique Díaz Díaz on the Gospel for this Sunday, March 16, 2025, entitled: “This is my Son, my chosen one, listen to him.”
***
As we delve into the readings for this week, we are met with powerful passages that speak to the core of our faith:
Genesis 15:5-12 17-18: “God makes a covenant with Abram”
Psalm 26: “The Lord is my light and my salvation”
Philippians 3:17-4:1: “Christ will transform our miserable body into a glorious body like his own”
Luke 9:28-36: “While he was praying, his face changed”
As we journey through the season of Lent, we are called to follow Jesus, just as the disciples did. However, the path ahead may seem daunting and confusing. Like Peter, we may struggle to understand the depth of Jesus’ message and the sacrifices he asks of us. But through prayer and reflection, we can begin to grasp the true meaning of our faith.
As Jesus prayed on the mountain, he was transfigured before his disciples, revealing his divine nature. This moment serves as a reminder that true understanding comes from a deep connection with God. By listening to Jesus and following his teachings, we can find clarity and purpose in our lives.
The transfiguration of Jesus also challenges us to see the face of Christ in every person we encounter. In a world filled with suffering and injustice, it is our duty to restore dignity and compassion to those around us. Through prayer and reflection, may we be guided to see the beauty and grace of God in all beings.
Let us take this Lenten season as an opportunity to deepen our faith and open our hearts to the transformative power of God’s love. May we listen to the voice of the beloved Son and reflect his light in all that we do.
Lord, Holy Father, guide us in our journey towards you. Help us to see the face of Jesus in every person and to reflect your grace in our daily lives. Amen.
