Welcome to the Exaudi blog, where Fr. Jorge Miró shares his insightful commentary on the Gospel for this Sunday, March 9, 2025. The title of his reflection is “The Spirit led him through the desert, while he was tempted.”
As we embark on the season of Lent, a period of solemn preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter, we are reminded of the profound significance of the passion, death, and resurrection of our Lord. Lent calls us to take our spiritual journey seriously, urging us to turn towards Jesus Christ and embrace renewal in all aspects of our lives.
In this spiritual battle against temptation, we are encouraged to resist the lure of pride, materialism, and selfish desires, and instead, open our hearts to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The desert symbolizes a place of purification and encounter with God, where we can shed our worldly attachments and acknowledge the strength that comes from the Lord.
The Gospel narrative highlights the reality of temptation in human life, exemplified by Jesus’ own encounter with the devil. Through the temptations presented in the Gospel, we are reminded of the importance of resisting the urge to place ourselves above God’s will and to seek fulfillment in material possessions or worldly success.
As we navigate through our own temptations, we are encouraged to turn to prayer, meditation on the Word of God, fasting, and acts of charity as essential tools for spiritual combat. By inviting the Holy Spirit into our lives, we can journey through Lent with a sense of hope, unity, and solidarity with our fellow brothers and sisters.
Let us walk together in the hope of eternal life, embracing the promise of unity and love. Come, Holy Spirit, guide us on this Lenten pilgrimage towards the heavenly goal!
