EMBRACING LENT
As we embark on the forty days of Lent, a period of preparation for the central celebration of Christianity, the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are called to purify ourselves of anything hindering our journey towards a new life. This entails acknowledging and addressing our faults and sins. The desire for peace, justice, truth, and love in our families, communities, and the world at large rests not only on the shoulders of leaders but also on each one of us. Let us take responsibility for sowing hope and contributing to the changes we wish to see.
While global events may seem overwhelming, with the new President of the United States asserting dominance and various regions grappling with conflicts and challenges, Pope Francis reminds us in his Lenten message that hope lies within us. Each of us is called to be a pilgrim of hope, actively participating in the journey towards a better world.
EMPOWERING CHANGE
Reflecting on our individual roles in fostering hope, unity, and compassion, we are urged to consider how we engage with those around us. Are we welcoming and inclusive, or do we contribute to marginalization and division? Lent presents an opportunity for personal and communal transformation, not only through physical sacrifices but also through concrete actions that promote peace, justice, and solidarity.
While the challenges of our times may seem insurmountable, remember that hope begins with each one of us. By actively participating in the journey towards a better world, we can be catalysts for positive change in our families, communities, and society at large. Let us embrace this Lenten season as a time of renewal and transformation, striving to be beacons of hope in a world in need of light.
