Are you ready to witness a historic event in Rome? On October 11–12, the original statue of Our Lady of Fátima will grace the city during the Jubilee of Marian Spirituality.
This iconic image of Our Lady, a beacon of hope for believers worldwide, will join pilgrims at a special Mass in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. local time. This moment promises to enhance the spiritual experience and deepen reflections for all in attendance.
It’s a rare occurrence for the statue to leave the shrine at Fátima and journey to Rome, happening only at the pope’s specific request. The first time was in 1984 for the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Redemption, followed by appearances during the Great Jubilee of 2000 and the Year of Faith in 2013.
The Dicastery for Evangelization has announced that access to St. Peter’s Square for the Mass will be free, with no tickets required. Registration to participate in this jubilee event is now open on the jubilee website until August 10.
Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, emphasized the significance of having the original statue of Our Lady of Fátima present, allowing all to feel the closeness of the Virgin Mary. He echoed the Holy Father’s words from the bull of indiction of the jubilee, stating that Mary is the most affectionate of mothers who never abandons her children.
Just as she assured the three little shepherds at Fátima, Our Lady continues to reassure each of us, saying, “I will never leave you.” Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the loving embrace of Mary in Rome!
