Vice President JD Vance is set to deliver a speech at the 20th National Catholic Prayer Breakfast (NCPB) scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28, in Washington, D.C., as revealed by the organization.
“I am humbled to have the opportunity to speak at the 20th annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast and to represent the Trump administration’s unwavering support for the faith community in the United States,” Vance expressed in a statement.
Reflecting on his previous attendance at the NCPB, Vance shared, “Last year, I was deeply moved by the heartfelt prayers of over a thousand Catholics gathered to pray for the future and prosperity of our nation.”
He attributed the restoration of hope and dreams of the American people to the faithful prayers of the attendees, stating, “Thanks to their unwavering devotion, President Trump’s leadership has paved the way for peace and prosperity in our nation once again.”
NCPB Chairman Mark Randall voiced his excitement about having Vice President JD Vance return, this time in his capacity as vice president, for the 20th annual event of fellowship and prayer. Randall remarked, “His presence symbolizes hope and a commitment to Catholic values that benefit our entire nation.”
This year’s keynote speaker, Monsignor James Shea, the president of the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, will address the attendees. Notable political figures, including New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith, will also be in attendance to be honored with the NCPB’s Christifideles Laici Award.
The Christifideles Laici Award is presented annually by the NCPB to a layperson exemplifying service and dedication to the Church. Established to recognize individuals following in the footsteps of St. XYZ, the award celebrates their contributions to the Catholic community.
