Welcome to the IV International Women’s Seminar organized by the International Academy of Catholic Leaders in partnership with the International Network of Catholic Women Leaders. This year’s theme is “Women and Hope in Today’s World.”
This seminar is a part of the initiatives led by the International Network of Catholic Women for a New Feminism, established in November 2020 after the successful completion of two international programs on women’s role in public life and Catholic identity in the 20th century. The network has united nearly 500 women from Latin America and Europe to promote a new feminism based on the Social Magisterium of the Catholic Church, targeting both men and women of goodwill.
A Crucial Event in Women’s Month
Raquel Vargas, a member of the organizing committee, highlights the significance of this seminar within the International Network of Catholic Women Leaders:
“The relevance of this seminar lies in the need to combine hope with unity. During Women’s Month, our discussions will revolve around hope as a driving force, a gift, and a responsibility. Women must come together to tackle today’s challenges and crises, fostering communities of hope and equipping ourselves to spread this message to those around us.”
She also underscores the pivotal role of women in society, drawing inspiration from the model of the Virgin Mary:
“Women play a crucial role in all spheres of society. Their ‘feminine genius’ and their ability to infuse life with humanity find their exemplar in Mary, the Mother of Hope, the mother of unfailing love.”
