Update on Pope Francis’ Health
The clinical conditions of the Holy Father, although critical, have shown a slight improvement. There have been no episodes of asthmatic respiratory crises today, and some laboratory tests have shown improvement. This is stated in the bulletin from the Vatican on the health conditions of Pope Francis, from his hospital bed at the Gemelli Polyclinic. The bulletin also mentions, “The monitoring of the mild renal insufficiency does not raise concern. Oxygen therapy continues, although with slightly reduced flow rates and oxygen percentages. Due to the complexity of the clinical picture, the doctors have not yet provided a prognosis. This morning he received the Eucharist, and in the afternoon, he resumed his work activities. In the evening, he called the Pastor of the Parish of Gaza to express his paternal closeness. Pope Francis thanks the entire people of God who have gathered in prayer for his health.”
Rosary at St. Peter’s Square
Starting at 9:00 PM, as reported by Vatican News, the rosary will be recited in St. Peter’s Square for the health of the Pontiff. The prayers will be led by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Cardinal and Secretary of State of the Vatican. In the afternoon, many faithful gathered at the Gemelli, especially the young university students from the Roman campus of the Catholic University, to pray for Pope Francis at the rosary organized at the Gemelli Polyclinic under the statue of Pope John Paul II, led by Monsignor Claudio Giuliodori, the general ecclesiastical assistant of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and Catholic Action.
Prayer for the Pope at the Gemelli
The girls, in particular, accompanied the prayers with guitar and songs. “Those who have faith in the Lord – the bishop told journalists at the end of the rosary – can never lose hope, indeed we know that nothing is impossible for God. Our hope is founded in Him.”
