Pope Francis’ Health Update: Not Yet Out of Danger
Amidst concerns about Pope Francis’ health, members of his medical team at Rome’s Gemelli hospital have provided an update, revealing that he is not yet out of danger. However, they also assure that he is not in imminent danger of death.
During a press conference, Dr. Sergio Alfieri, leading the team caring for the Pope, and Dr. Luigi Carbone, Vice-Director of the Vatican’s healthcare service, shared insights into the Pope’s condition. They indicated that he will remain hospitalized for at least another week, with his breathing difficulties still a concern.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Alfieri mentioned that Pope Francis is in good spirits, working, and even cracking jokes. One heartwarming anecdote shared was of the Pope responding to a doctor’s greeting with a playful “Hello, Holy Son” instead of the expected “Hello, Holy Father”.
When asked about their main concerns, the doctors highlighted the potential risk of sepsis if germs from the Pope’s respiratory tract enter his bloodstream. However, they expressed confidence in his recovery and eventual return to Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican, acknowledging that his chronic respiratory issues will need ongoing attention.
As the world continues to pray for Pope Francis’ speedy recovery, the updates from his medical team offer hope and reassurance during this challenging time.
