
Fr. Cornelius Manzak Damulak Escapes Kidnappers
Fr. Cornelius Manzak Damulak of the Catholic Diocese of Shendam, Plateau State, made a miraculous escape from his captors over the weekend after being kidnapped on Thursday, 6 February 2025. His rescue came when police found him on a highway, having managed to flee from his abductors.
Fr. Damulak, a priest of Shendam Diocese and a student at Veritas University, Abuja, was abducted from his residence in Zuma, Bwari Area Council, Abuja. The news of his escape was confirmed by Agenzia Fides in a statement released by the Diocese of Shendam. The Niger State Police Command also verified the incident, stating that Fr. Damulak was discovered near the Pogo-Paiko highway in Minna by a police patrol team.
According to reports, Fr. Damulak had been moved from one forest to another by his captors after being kidnapped. When police found him, it was evident that he had been trekking for a long time. He was promptly taken to a medical facility for examination.
Earlier this month, the Chancellor of the Diocese of Shendam, Fr. Joshua Daffa, had appealed for prayers for Fr. Damulak’s safe return. He entrusted Fr. Damulak to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints.
