Welcome to a transformative journey as the Church marks the 2025 Easter celebrations with the Congregation of the Holy Cross (CSC) embarking on a special mission – ‘the Year of Mission’ under the theme Hope Beyond Borders.
Br. Paul Bednarczyk, the Superior General of CSC, has called upon priests and brothers to step forward in faith to bring “Hope Beyond Borders” to the people of God. This initiative is not just a call to action but a profound invitation to witness Christ’s boundless love in a world yearning for renewal.
As we commemorate the birth of our holy Founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, the Year of Mission will officially begin on 28th April. This date marks the 185th anniversary of Father Basile Moreau’s sending of the first Holy Cross missionaries outside of France to Algiers in 1840.
Embrace the unknown with faith
Br. Bednarczyk reminds us of the congregation’s Constitutions, “our mission sends us across borders of every sort” (2:17). This year is an opportunity for members to reach out and cross all borders that separate nations, states, and individuals, embracing new encounters and experiences.
Pilgrims of hope – hope beyond borders
The central theme of the Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope, encourages us to walk in hope, trusting in God’s providence. Similarly, Hope Beyond Borders challenges us to expand our vision of faith and service, recognizing that hope knows no boundaries of geography, culture, or circumstance.
During this year of mission, the congregation will establish the Holy Family Mission in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. 8 missionaries will be sent to staff the mission, bringing the message of God’s love to a place where Holy Cross has never been before.
Let us embrace this journey of hope beyond borders, as we serve, evangelize, and bring Christ’s love to those in need. Together, we move forward with courage and conviction, embracing the world as a place of encounter, transformation, and renewal.
