In the confines of a maximum-security prison, Felix Rosado had a moment of awakening that changed the course of his life. Reflecting on his journey, he pondered, “How did I get here?”
From attending Mass with his mother as a child to excelling in academics, Felix’s life took an unexpected turn when, at the age of 18, he found himself sentenced to life in prison without parole for a murder conviction.
Listen to Felix’s full story on Catholic Mobilizing Network’s “Encounters With Dignity” podcast or watch the mini-documentary on his transformative journey.
Felix’s descent into a life of crime, drugs, and violence led to his incarceration. However, his path to redemption began when he rediscovered his Catholic faith after over a decade in prison.
Through the concept of restorative justice, Felix confronted the harm he had caused and embarked on a journey of healing and reconciliation. This transformative approach prioritizes healing over retribution, offering hope and forgiveness.
Felix’s commitment to restorative justice not only changed his life but also inspired him to share this philosophy with others. Together with Charles Boyd, he developed the workshop “Let’s Circle Up,” advocating for a more compassionate and transformative approach to justice.
After 27 years in prison, Felix was granted freedom and continues to champion restorative justice as the Healing Futures Program Manager at Youth Art & Self-Empowerment Project in Philadelphia.
