Rome’s City-Run Kennels Host Special Red-Carpet Event to Promote Dog Adoption
Rome is taking a unique approach to promoting dog adoption by organizing a special red-carpet event at the city-run kennels. The goal is to give shelter dogs a day out and increase their chances of finding a forever home.
The event, titled Il canile va in città (The kennel goes to town), will feature 10 dogs from the Marconi kennels. It will take place at Parco Riccardi, in Largo Beato Placido Riccardi, in front of the San Paolo Metro B station, starting at 10:30.
In addition to the dog parade, dog owners will have the opportunity to have their pets microchipped and registered for free. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the benefits of adopting shelter dogs.
At the city’s last dog parade, hundreds of people showed up to offer their support. Rome’s guarantor for animals, Patrizia Prestipino, expressed satisfaction with the event’s success, noting that five dogs were adopted as a result.
According to Prestipino, the event’s success was a testament to the community’s affection and love for animals. She emphasized the importance of supporting responsible adoptions from city shelters.
Prestipino highlighted the heartwarming sight of the dogs parading on the red carpet like stars, stating that it was a memorable experience for all involved.
The city plans to continue organizing such events at regular intervals to encourage more adoptions. For further details, visit the city website.
