Exciting news for all Catholic film enthusiasts! The highly anticipated documentary, “Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality,” is set to hit theaters nationwide for a limited time from April 27-29. This release date coincides with the canonization of Carlo Acutis, the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint, by Pope Francis on April 27.
Castletown Media, in collaboration with Catholic filmmaker Jim Wahlberg, made the exciting announcement on Feb. 12.
Produced by Castletown Media and distributed by Fathom Events, the same duo behind the successful “Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist” documentary in 2024, “Roadmap to Reality” promises a unique cinematic experience. The film delves into Acutis’ life and the valuable lessons he imparts to young people grappling with the challenges of the digital age. Through a blend of live action, animation, and interviews with Acutis’ inner circle, tech experts, and scholars, the documentary tackles pressing questions about artificial intelligence and our technology-driven world.
One intriguing aspect of the film follows a group of high school students on a two-week pilgrimage from North Dakota to Italy to pay homage at Acutis’ tomb. A key requirement for the pilgrimage was for the students to disconnect from technology and leave their phones behind.
Featuring personal anecdotes from Acutis’ family and friends, as well as insights from prominent figures in the Catholic Church and technology field, “Roadmap to Reality” offers a blueprint for young individuals to navigate the digital landscape.
In a press release, Ray Nutt, Chief Executive Officer at Fathom Entertainment, expressed his excitement about partnering with Castletown Media once again, stating, “Fathom Entertainment is very pleased to join forces once again with Tim, Jim, and the passionate team at Castletown Media to bring this heartfelt and uplifting documentary film to the big screen.”
