Welcome to the Annual JPIC Formation Workshop where the theme of “JPIC Mission: Pilgrims of Hope for systemic transformation for the common good of all creation” takes center stage. This workshop brings together lay people and religious individuals from all corners of the globe to equip them with the necessary tools to enhance their JPIC apostolates and inspire their congregations to engage.
Hosted in Rome from 10-14 February, this year’s workshop aims to animate and introduce new promoters of various religious congregations to the JPIC mission. Fr. Roy Thomas, co-Executive Secretary of the JPIC Commission of the International Union of Superiors General and the Union of Superiors General, emphasizes the importance of deepening understanding and addressing issues through the methodology of seeing-judging-acting.
With about 100 participants from different nations attending both in person and virtually, the workshop provides a platform for networking with civil society and advocacy entities. Fr. Thomas stresses the need for collaboration and advocacy, highlighting the importance of joining hands with other organizations working towards similar goals.
Sister Gretta Fernandes from India, Mission Secretary of the Missionary Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit, shares her optimism amidst challenges, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing global issues. She calls for standing together as one humanity, especially in support of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
As JPIC promoters, Sr. Fernandes encourages focusing on ministry and bringing hope to those on the margins. She acknowledges the struggles faced by migrants and refugees and emphasizes the need to find alternatives and support for those affected by policy changes.
Stay tuned for more insights and discussions on finding solutions for migrants and refugees from critical situations at the workshop. Let’s come together as Pilgrims of Hope, working towards systemic transformation for the common good of all creation.
