Abigail Szor, a participant from Israel, shared her experience of breaking barriers at the event. She emphasized the importance of listening to different narratives and the need to humanize each other in a world filled with division.
The gathering aimed to foster interreligious and intercultural dialogue among Muslim, Jewish, and Christian youth in response to the need for mutual understanding following past conflicts. The students from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem initiated the project, with Scholas Occurentes coordinating the event.
During their meeting with Pope Francis, the participants exchanged thoughts and presented him with a letter and a signed sweatshirt. They highlighted the importance of sustaining complex dialogue and striving for peace despite differences.

Israeli, Palestinian, and American youth at the event chose to reject hate speech and divisive rhetoric in favor of understanding each other’s perspectives. They shared their personal stories and experiences, aiming to build bridges towards reconciliation.
Artistic expression played a significant role in the dialogue, allowing participants to reflect on their realities and construct new collective narratives. They also engaged in a poetic walk through Rome, adding a creative dimension to their interactions.
Scholas Occurrentes: Promoting Interreligious Dialogue
Founded by Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Scholas Occurrentes aims to bring together young people from different religions in a space of dialogue and exchange. With Pope Francis’ support, the organization has become a global leader in interreligious dialogue, using art and education to connect youth across diverse contexts.
Through initiatives like the creation of a mural in Lisbon and a monumental polyhedron in Indonesia, Scholas demonstrates how art, education, and interfaith commitment can transform differences into bridges of peace and hope.
