From the moment she stepped foot into the Jubilee of Communication, Lila felt a sense of warmth and belonging like never before. Born in Paris to Iranian parents, Lila has a deep connection to faith and spirituality. She shared how her mother, who attended Catholic schools in Tehran, instilled in her an open faith from a young age. Despite not being baptized, her relationship with Christianity remained strong.
Her journey at the Jubilee was a momentous occasion for Lila, who has always admired Pope Francis and his inclusive vision. The experience of attending Mass at St. John Lateran and even going for confession, despite not being Catholic, left a lasting impact on her.
Meeting Pope Francis in person was a highlight for Lila, who felt encouraged and inspired by his words. She realized that faith knows no boundaries and that grace can be found in unexpected places.
As Lila stood at the threshold of faith, she felt welcomed into a home that could be hers. Much like the French Catholic writer Charles Péguy, who wrote about the grace and love of Jesus despite his own limitations, Lila’s encounter with grace at the Jubilee left her feeling indescribably joyful.
Through her unique experience at the Jubilee of Communication, Lila Azam Zanganeh’s story serves as a reminder that faith transcends labels and boundaries, and that grace is always present for those who seek it.
