The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the John Paul II Postdoctoral Scholarships.
Selected scholars will embark on a nine-month research program from October 2025 to June 2026, delving into the Church’s social mission. Through in-depth analysis, scholars will explore the Church’s impact on civil society, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, social services, and pastoral work.
Who Can Apply?
If you hold a Ph.D. in Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Ethics, Management, Political Science, or related fields, this opportunity is for you. Fluency in English at a B2 level is required. The scholarships cover accommodation, airfare, monthly stipend, and health insurance, ensuring a comfortable and supported research experience in Rome.
Research Focus
Delve into globally relevant topics like migration, poverty alleviation, or integral ecology, in line with Catholic Social Teaching (CST) principles. The program covers all academic and publication costs, fostering a conducive environment for impactful research. Scholars will also have the chance to attend courses to deepen their understanding of CST and Christian social thought history.
