Pope Francis Calls on Indian Bishops to Prioritize the Poor and Vulnerable
Welcome to the latest update from Vatican News. Today, we are excited to share a message from Pope Francis addressed to the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) as they gather for their 36th Plenary Assembly. The Pope is calling on the bishops to prioritize the poor and vulnerable in their ministry and implement the fruits of the synodal path.
During the assembly, taking place in the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, Odisha State, the Pope urged the bishops to open wide the doors of the Church and be a sign of hope to the entire nation. He expressed his hope that their discussions would inspire the faithful to be missionary disciples and continue to welcome those in need.
Discussing Synodal Paths for the Mission
The theme of the Plenary Assembly is “Discerning Synodal Paths for the Mission.” Over the course of the gathering, 204 bishops of the Latin Church in India will reflect on various topics, including formation and synodal way of life, youth engagement, poverty alleviation, and gender justice. The assembly will also focus on issues such as ecology, migrants, and interreligious dialogue.
We look forward to hearing more updates from the CCBI Plenary Assembly as the bishops work towards implementing the synodal path and serving the most vulnerable in society. Stay tuned for more news and updates from Vatican News!
