As we approach International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Pope Francis delivers a powerful message emphasizing the importance of remembering the atrocities of Auschwitz while calling for peace in today’s global conflicts.
Reflecting on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the Pope stressed the need to never forget the horrors faced by millions of Jewish and other faiths during the Holocaust.
He also acknowledged the Christian martyrs who perished in Nazi death camps and urged for unity in eradicating antisemitism and all forms of discrimination and religious persecution.
Pope Francis encouraged building a world of fraternity, forgiveness, and peace, emphasizing the importance of educating young people to embrace openness and compassion towards all.
Turning his attention to current global conflicts, the pontiff addressed the crisis in Sudan, labeling it as the most severe humanitarian crisis with devastating consequences in South Sudan. He called for solidarity, peace, and an end to violence in the region.
Additionally, he expressed deep concern for the situation in Colombia’s Catatumbo region, where armed conflicts have displaced over 30,000 people from their homes, urging for immediate action to restore peace and provide humanitarian aid.
