At the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., thousands of pilgrims gather for the opening Mass of the National Prayer Vigil for Life.
Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, leads the Mass and inspires the attendees by saying, “When we march tomorrow, we march as pilgrims of hope.”
He urges young people to be “pilgrims of hope dedicated to creating a culture of life and a society of love.”
The archbishop also mentions the 23 pro-life activists who were recently pardoned by President Donald Trump for their peaceful protests at abortion clinics, where they were arrested for violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and “Conspiracy Against Rights” statute.
“I was heartened to hear that the new president granted pardons to pro-life activists who were imprisoned for their advocacy for life,” Naumann expressed.
