Government Raid on Seminary in Nicaragua
Recently, the Catholic Church in Nicaragua faced another attack as government officials raided the St. Aloyisius Gongaza Major Seminary of Philosophy in the Diocese of Matagalpa in the northern part of the country. This raid resulted in the removal of thirty seminarians, with the possibility of arrests.
This incident comes shortly after the expropriation of the “La Cartuja” pastoral center, also owned by the Diocese of Matagalpa. Paramilitaries were reported to have forcefully removed dozens of faithful during a spiritual retreat at the pastoral center, highlighting the unending violence faced by the Church in Nicaragua.
The ongoing persecution of ecclesiastical structures and faithful in Nicaragua is a concerning trend that needs to be addressed. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
