Welcome to our blog where we share stories of inspiration and empowerment! Today, we are diving into the incredible work of Catholic sisters around the world and the generous efforts of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to support them in their missions of peace, justice, and education.
As dozens of religious sisters gathered in Rome for the Jubilee for Communications, Linda Hilton, Chair of the Hilton Foundation, spoke passionately about the importance of sharing the stories of these dedicated women. She emphasized, “Their stories have to be lifted for everyone to understand what is truly happening in the world, and these sisters do it out of their heart and compassion for others.”
During an interview with Vatican News at the conference “Weaving Communion through Communication,” organized by the Dicastery for Communication, Ms. Hilton shared how moved she and other board members were when hearing about Sr. Norma Pimentel, MJ, who works with migrants on the US-Mexico border in Texas.
At the heart of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s mission is the desire to support Catholic sisters in their vital work. In his will, hotel entrepreneur Conrad N. Hilton requested that at least half of the foundation’s donations go towards assisting these sisters. Ms. Hilton quoted her grandfather’s vision, “love one another, for that is the whole law,” emphasizing the importance of showing love and compassion to all people.
One of the foundation’s initiatives involves providing ongoing formation for sisters in communications, in collaboration with the Dicastery for Communication. Sisters receive online training and internships at the Dicastery’s offices in Rome, further equipping them to share their stories with the world.
Recently, the Hilton Foundation launched “The Anna Trust for Elderly Catholic Sisters” in collaboration with the International Union of Superiors General. This initiative aims to support the aging process of sisters worldwide, ensuring they receive the care and dignity they deserve.
As we reflect on the incredible work of Catholic sisters and the support they receive from the Hilton Foundation, let us remember the words of Ms. Hilton, “Religious sisters don’t keep what money they earn but give it to their superiors because of their vow of poverty. So, when there is nothing for them, it’s important to step in and care for them.”
Join us in celebrating the unwavering dedication of Catholic sisters and the impactful efforts of organizations like the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to uplift and empower these inspiring women!
