Celebrate the 6th Sunday of the Word of God with Pope Francis
Get ready for a special Mass presided by Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica on January 26, as we celebrate the 6th Sunday of the Word of God.
By Vatican News
Established by Pope Francis in 2019, the Church dedicates the sixth Sunday of the Word of God to emphasize the importance of Sacred Scripture. This year’s theme, “I hope in Your Word,” is inspired by the Psalms.
Join us as Pope Francis distributes copies of the Gospel of Luke to attendees, continuing the tradition of spreading God’s Word after the Mass.
Supporting Spiritual Growth
During the celebration, the Pope will appoint 40 lay faithful as Lectors from various nations, each receiving a copy of the Nova Vulgata Bible. This initiative aims to deepen the connection to God’s Word and aid in spiritual growth.
To further support spiritual growth, the Dicastery for Evangelization offers a free liturgical-pastoral guide in six languages on their website evangelizatio.va, providing resources for a deeper engagement with Scripture in communities, families, and daily life.
Pizzaballa: ‘Scripture Inspires Love for God’
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa emphasizes the significance of this initiative, which has been observed since 2020 on the third Sunday of Ordinary Time as decreed by Pope Francis.
