Welcome to Exaudi, where Monsignor Enrique Díaz Díaz shares his insightful reflections on the Gospel for January 1, 2025, titled: “Son of God with Christ”.
Let’s delve into the readings for today:
Isaiah 40, 1-5. 9-11: “The glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all men will see it”
Psalm 103: “Bless the Lord, my soul”
St. Paul to Titus 2, 11-14; 3, 4-7: “He saved us through baptism that regenerates us”
St. Luke, 3, 15-16. 21-22: “After Jesus’ baptism, the heavens opened”
As the Christmas cycle draws to a close with Jesus’ baptism, we witness another revelation of his divine nature. Through his baptism, Jesus symbolizes his connection with humanity and his unique mission ordained by the Holy Spirit.
One touching anecdote shared by Monsignor Díaz involves a woman grappling with depression and despair until she heard the words: “You are my beloved son, my beloved daughter” during a visit to the cathedral. These words transformed her outlook, reminding her of God’s unconditional love.
The baptism of Jesus signifies his commitment to God’s work, ushering in a new Kingdom where the marginalized find solace. By recognizing ourselves as children of God, we find strength and purpose in our lives, empowering us to embrace challenges with faith.
Every baptized individual is called to partake in the Trinitarian communion, fostering a sense of community and brotherhood. Baptism isn’t merely a ritual but a transformative experience that propels us towards a deeper relationship with God.
Reflecting on our baptismal vows, we are reminded to live out our divine calling, embodying the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives. Let us renew our commitment to God and strive to build a world reflective of His love and grace.
As we contemplate the significance of our baptism, let us seek to honor our identity as children of God and embrace our role as disciples entrusted with a sacred mission.
May we find joy in our divine heritage and work towards unity, harmony, and peace for all. Amen.
