Monterrey: The Epicenter of Catholic Youth Leadership
Monterrey has emerged as the epicenter of Catholic youth leadership, hosting an unprecedented event organized by the International Academy of Catholic Leaders. From January 5 to 9, 2025, the University of the Archdiocese of Monterrey welcomed young people from around the world for an international camp aimed at nurturing their political vocation and equipping them with tools to address contemporary challenges through the lens of faith.
The First International Camp of Young Catholics with a Political Vocation produced a significant outcome in the form of a political manifesto titled “Youth, Church and Political Vocation: Prophetic Leadership at the Service of the Common Good.” This manifesto underscores the dedication of youth towards constructing a more just and compassionate society grounded in Gospel values.
The manifesto delves into pressing social issues confronting young people today, such as exclusion, the ecological crisis, and polarization. It also emphasizes the necessity of a synodal, inclusive, and prophetic Church. Aligned with Pope Francis’s message, the signatories pledge to be transformative leaders who courageously and authentically strive to make a positive impact in their communities.
Key commitments outlined in the manifesto include:
- Promoting intergenerational and cultural dialogue
- Defending human rights
- Active engagement in political life
- Caring for the environment
- Promoting family values inspired by the Holy Family
Through this manifesto, young people reiterate their aspiration to be the revitalizing force of the Church and harbinger of hope in the realms of society and politics. They stress that politics is indeed “one of the highest forms of charity.”

The manifesto aspires to inspire future generations to embrace the cause of justice, reconciliation, and the advancement of the common good, collaborating across various sectors of society to achieve a sustainable and compassionate transformation.
