FACTS
In a tradition dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, Pope Francis has called for a Jubilee, or Holy Year, to celebrate the 2025th anniversary of the birth of Jesus. This tradition finds its roots in the idea of a Jubilee every 50 years, as ordered by God for Israel, to bring joy and ensure social justice by forgiving debts, freeing slaves, and restoring lost land. As we approach 2025 years since Christ’s birth, historical accuracy may vary, but the significance lies in the saving events we commemorate.
The Jubilee of 2025 is a time for all sinners to seek forgiveness, regain freedom from their sins, and experience divine grace and inner peace. Through sacraments, prayers, and acts of mercy, we can attain Plenary Indulgence and alleviate the penalties of our sins, even for our departed loved ones.
ENLIGHTENMENT
Pope Francis emphasizes hope as the central message of the Jubilee, inviting everyone to encounter the Lord Jesus and rekindle hope through the love and salvation offered by Him. Christian hope, rooted in the unwavering love of Christ, sustains us through difficulties and challenges, guiding us forward in faith and charity.
Let us embrace this opportunity for grace, forgiveness, freedom, and hope. Approach Jesus Christ with faith and confidence, and let His love guide you through life’s challenges.
