Welcome to Monterrey, Mexico – where the city has emerged as a hub for Catholic youth leadership. The International Academy of Catholic Leaders is organizing a unique event from January 5 to 9, 2025, at the University of the Archdiocese of Monterrey. This international camp aims to empower young individuals from around the globe, equipping them with tools rooted in faith to tackle modern challenges.
Attendees can expect a dynamic program featuring conferences and interactive workshops led by renowned speakers. Some of the key topics include:
- Youth and the Church: Exploring the role of young people in the Church with insights from Msgr. Rogelio Cabrera, Archbishop of Monterrey.
- Youth and social crisis: Addressing the plight of the marginalized and the responsibilities of young individuals, led by Fr. Ángel García, the founder of Messengers of Peace.
- Youth and politics: Delving into the vision of a new society and the political calling of young people with Monsignor Jorge Cuapio, President of the Academy of Catholic Leaders – Mexico.
- Our vision: Discovering the Guadalupe Generation dream with José Antonio Rosas, General Director of the International Academy of Catholic Leaders.
Consuelo Báñuelos, the director of the School of Catholic Leaders in Monterrey, emphasized the significance of this gathering, stating: “In a time dominated by artificial intelligence and electronic devices, witnessing numerous young individuals eager to share experiences, learn from experts, and grow towards the Common Good fills us with hope. These days will plant seeds of goodness that will yield abundant fruits.”

This event also showcases inspiring stories of young individuals dedicated to their faith and community. Nicolás Mauro, a 27-year-old Argentine professor of political science and law student, actively serves in the Diocese of Mar del Plata and leads a group of young adults in the Living Cenacle Movement. Nicolás shares: “My motivation is to understand how to blend faith and politics to reform society. This camp offers a unique chance to connect with like-minded peers and explore ways to infuse the values of the Gospel into the social and political realms of our nations.”
On the other hand, Sebastián Chacón, a 28-year-old from El Paso, Texas, is a devout Catholic who volunteers at the Ministry of Peace and Justice in his diocese. Sebastián reflects: “It’s heartening to witness young individuals from diverse backgrounds embracing the Gospel and striving to fulfill God’s call to care for others. Participating in this camp inspires me to continue my community work and strengthen my commitment to the Common Good.”
The International Academy of Catholic Leaders, established in 40 dioceses across 15 countries in the Americas, Spain, and now Africa, has certified over 35,000 students through various programs. This international camp reaffirms its dedication to nurturing leaders who are grounded in faith and dedicated to the Common Good.
